James van Riemsdyk will be missing in action for at least the next month.
The Flyers on Monday announced the veteran forward will miss five to six weeks with a lower-body injury suffered in Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Avalanche.
Van Riemsdyk was injured early in the first period of Saturday’s game and did not return. He previously appeared in four preseason games, averaging a point per game with a goal and three assists.
Van Riemsdyk, 29, signed a five-year deal with Philadelphia on the first day of free agency this season.
The Flyers are slated to host the Sharks for their home opener Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
