Lakers F Brandon Ingram on 4-game suspension: 'I have to control my emotions better’

Brandon Ingram thought his suspension might have been worse.

The 21-year-old Lakers forward will be off the court for four games because of his involvement in an altercation with the Rockets over the weekend. He discussed the incident with reporters Monday.

“It was better than we expected,” Ingram said (via ESPN). “I’m happy it was only four (games). I have to control my emotions better.”

Ingram, who threw a punch in the direction of Rockets guard Chris Paul during the scuffle, said he apologized to his teammates for his actions.

“I was wrong for my teammates, but I also stepped up for my teammates,” Ingram said. “That’s what I’m going to do 10 times out of 10”

Ingram has averaged 14 points and four rebounds through the first two games of the season.

Paul was suspended for two games while Lakers guard Rajon Rondo received a three-game suspension.

Ingram and Rondo will begin serving their suspensions when Los Angeles faces the Spurs on Monday. Lakers coach Luke Walton said Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma will start in their places.
