Le'Veon Bell still hasn't reported to Steelers, report says

Where in the world is Le’Veon Bell?

The Steelers running back remains absent, despite reports that he was going to end his holdout and rejoin the team during their Week 7 bye, NFL Media reported.

The report noted Bell, who is seeking guaranteed money, has “walked away from $6.8 million in game checks” during his time away from Pittsburgh after being franchise tagged for the second consecutive year.

Bell won’t play for at least another week but will have to end his holdout before Week 10 in order to accrue an NFL season, which would make him eligible for unrestricted free agency after the 2018 season. The Nov. 13 deadline for him to sign his tender falls during Week 11 when the Steelers are scheduled to visit the Jaguars.

With the Oct. 30 trade deadline approaching, Steelers owner Art Rooney II said team intends to keep Bell.

“I expect him to be a member of the team going forward,” Rooney said. “That’s my expectation.”

In the meantime, look for James Conner to continue to shine in Bell’s absence. The second-year rusher is on pace for more than 1,800 total yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns, similar to the numbers Bell has put up in recent years.

The Steelers (3-2-1) will look to stay atop the AFC North when they host the Browns (2-4-1) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
