NFL trade news: Golden Tate confirms Lions dealt him to Eagles

NFL trade rumors: Lions receiving calls about dealing WR Golden Tate

Golden Tate is heading to Philadelphia.

The receiver announced on Twitter that the Lions have traded him to the Eagles.

“It’s been real DETROIT! I’ll love ya forever. Philly Philly let’s get it!!” Tate posted.

The Eagles announced the trade a short time later, and the Lions confirmed they will receive a third-round pick in return.

The move came just a few hours before the NFL’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.

Tate, 30, has been with the Lions since 2014 and became one of quarterback Matthew Stafford’s favorite targets. This season, he leads Lions receivers with 44 catches for 517 yards and is tied with Marvin Jones with three touchdowns.

Tate was in the final year of his contract and wasn’t expected to re-sign with the Lions.

He was drafted by the Seahawks in 2010 and won a Super Bowl with Seattle before signing a five-year deal with Detroit.
