The Jets may have been looking to add a star in their secondary.
New York inquired about potentially dealing for Cardinals defensive back Patrick Peterson, according to a report from the New York Daily News. Arizona, however, will not be sending the 28-year-old corner to the Jets “barring a miracle,” the report says.
Peterson reportedly requested the Cardinals trade him this week. He “desperately wants out” of Arizona, according to ESPN.
But the Cardinals seem prepared to keep Peterson.
“We’re not trading Patrick,” Arizona coach Steven Wilks told reporters Monday. “That’s out of the question.”
The eight-year veteran has tallied 35 total tackles, three pass breakups and two interceptions in seven games this season.
Peterson was originally selected by the Cardinals out of LSU with the fifth pick in the 2011 draft. He has been named a Pro Bowl player in each of his first seven seasons.
