Odell Beckham Jr.’s recent comments critical of the Giants have apparently earned him a talk with team president and co-owner John Mara.
After saying Tuesday that Beckham “needs to do a little more playing and a little less talking,” Mara told Newsday Wednesday after the NFL’s fall owners meetings in New York he plans to sit down with the wide receiver.
“I will (talk to Beckham) at some point,” Mara said. “I’ve had a number of those conversations with him in the past, but at some point, I’ll probably sit down with him.”
Beckham, who signed a five-year contract extension worth $95 million in August, came under fire last week after an ESPN interview in which he questioned quarterback Eli Manning and head coach Pat Shurmur, among other things. Although OBJ apologized for his comments, they earned him a fine from the Giants.
Mara, however, said he still has confidence in Beckham
“Listen, I think he wants to win,” Mara said. “He wants the same things that we want. He’s a work in progress, but I still believe in him.”
