The suspension stems from the hit Matheson delivered to Canucks rookie Elias Pettersson in the third period of their game Saturday. Matheson appeared to smash the center into the boards, lift him off the ground and slam him into the ice.

Pettersson suffered a concussion on the play and will be out seven to 10 days, according to ESPN.
Canucks coach Travis Green called the hit a “dirty play,” according to USA Today.
Pettersson has five goals and three assists through his first five NHL games.
Matheson has appeared in 168 games over four seasons with Florida.
