Ryan Tannehill will remain shut down.
The Dolphins quarterback is expected sit out his second consecutive game Sunday when the Lions visit Miami, ESPN reported.
The report noted that Tannehill faces an “uphill challenge” in his recovery and is even unlikely to play next Thursday against the Texans.
Tannehill was a late addition to the Dolphins’ injury report last week and missed the team’s Week 6 overtime loss to the Bears with a shoulder problem. Dolphins coach Adam Gase told reporters Monday he’s not ready to name a starting quarterback for Week 7, adding that Tannehill was considered day-to-day with his injury.
Backup quarterback Brock Osweiler, who threw for 380 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions against Chicago, will be at the helm once again in Tannehill’s absence.
The Dolphins (4-2) host the Lions (2-3) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
