Jameis Winston and the Uber driver he allegedly groped more than two years ago have reached a settlement, the Tampa Bay Times reported Tuesday, citing court records. Terms of the settlement were not specified in the report.
The Buccaneers quarterback was being sued by the female Uber driver who accused Winston of groping her in March 2016. The suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, alleges Winston was “belligerent” and “leaned toward [her] and placed his fingers between her legs and pressed them firmly against her vagina over her yoga pants” while waiting in a drive-thru line in Scottsdale, Ariz.
While no charges were filed, the victim sought compensation in excess of $75,000 because of the “damages in the nature of emotional distress and future therapy expenses.”
Winston was given a three-game suspension in June for violating the NFL’s personal-conduct policy as a result of the alleged incident.
Since returning from suspension, Winston has thrown six touchdown passes and 10 interceptions in four appearances before being benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick during a Week 8 loss to the Bengals.
