NBA free agency rumors: Suns to waive C Tyson Chandler; Lakers favorites to sign him

Tyson Chandler very well could have a new home with the Lakers after the Suns buy out the center, multiple reports stated Saturday.

Chandler, who spent has spent three seasons with Phoenix, has had a mutual agreement on a buyout for a while, one report stated. His $13 million-plus contract was up at the end of the 2018-19 season.

The 17-year veteran has spent time in six different cities playing in Chicago, New Orleans, Charlotte, Dallas, New York and Phoenix. This would be his first stint in Los Angeles.

He would bring another tenured presence to the Lakers’ young locker room.

In seven games this season, Chandler was averaging 12.7 minutes with the struggling Suns squad. He chipped in 3.7 points per game shooting better than 66-percent from the field.

Chandler was drafted by the Clippers as the second-overall pick of the 2001 draft, but was immediately traded to the Bulls.
