NBA trade rumors: Heat ‘not actively pursuing’ any deals

The Heat are not looking to make a trade. But, they are willing to listen to offers.

Miami continues to be mentioned as a possible landing spot for disgruntled Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler, who has requested to be moved by Minnesota. Heat team president Pat Riley discussed the rumors when he met with reporters Thursday.

“We’ve been doing this all the time,” Riley said (via the Miami Herald). “We’re not actively pursuing anything, we’re listening. But, you have to be part of what’s going on in the conversation in the NBA, and there’s a lot of hypotheticals from that standpoint.”

The Timberwolves reportedly came close to sending Butler to the Heat on two separate occasions in early October, but those negotiations eventually broke down.

Butler asked Minnesota to move him in mid-September and missed most of the team’s training camp. He returned before the start of the regular season and has averaged 22.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in nine games.

The Heat have opened 2018-19 with a 5-5 record.
