Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel will not play in the Patriots’ showdown with Green Bay.
The pair of offensive weapons will be inactive against the Packers on Sunday, the team announced before the game. Both Gronkowski and Michel tested their injuries ahead of the matchup, according to an earlier report from ESPN.
Gronkowski (ankle/back) and Michel (knee) were both listed as questionable after practicing on a limited basis all week, though Gronkowski was held out of Thursday’s workout. Despite struggling with the ailments most of the season, Gronkowski missed just one game when he sat out New England’s Week 7 win over the Bears and logged three catches for 43 yards in his return the following week.
Meanwhile, Michel went down against Chicago and missed the team’s Monday night win over the Bills but the rookie’s MRI showed no structural damage.
Gronkowski has 29 catches for 448 yards and a score this season, while Michel leads the team with 422 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
The Patriots (6-2) are slated to host the Packers (3-3-1) at 8:20 p.m. ET.
