Ravens QB Lamar Jackson to start in place of Joe Flacco, report says

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson 'very prepared' to make first NFL start

Lamar Jackson’s first career NFL start will be an important one.

The Ravens’ rookie quarterback is expected to be under center for Sunday’s game against the rival Bengals in place of injured veteran Joe Flacco, ESPN reported, citing an unidentified source.

The report noted Flacco, who is listed as doubtful with a right hip injury, likely won’t need surgery but is in jeopardy of missing next week’s matchup against the Raiders.

Jackson, 21, was selected by Baltimore with the No. 32 overall pick in this year’s draft. He has completed 7-of-12 passes this season for 87 yards in special packages while also rushing for 139 yards.

Should he get in trouble, the Ravens could also start another Heisman Trophy winner in former No. 2 overall pick Robert Griffin III.

The Ravens (4-5) are slated to host the Bengals (5-4) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
