Sam Darnold injury update: Jets QB participates in drills for first time

Jets QB Sam Darnold on team's 3-6 start: 'I just have to play smarter, play better'

Sam Darnold was seen participating in drills Wednesday, marking the first time the Jets quarterback has done so since he hurt his right foot in Week 9.

Darnold was in pads and a helmet and was seen doing footwork and passing drills, which indicates he will be back on the field soon.

It’s unclear if Darnold participated in a full practice, but it’s a positive sign for the 2018 No. 3 overall draft pick.

According to NFL Media, the likelihood of Darnold being ready for Sunday’s game against the Titans is small, but he should be good to go for Week 14’s game against the Bills, barring any setbacks.

Darnold has not practiced since suffering a strain in his right foot Nov. 4 against the Dolphins.

In nine games, he has completed 159 of 289 passes for 1,934 and 11 touchdowns with 14 interceptions.
