D.J. Swearinger signs with Cardinals

Redskins' D.J. Swearinger ready to take on Texans: 'Houston bashed my name pretty bad'

D.J. Swearinger will be a Cardinal once again.

Swearinger announced his return to Arizona through an Instagram post Tuesday. The team later confirmed it via Twitter with a 30-second hype video of Swearinger’s highlights in his two seasons with the Cardinals.

The sixth-year safety played for Arizona from 2015-16. He signed a three-year $13.5 million with Washington in 2017 but was waived earlier this week. Many speculated that the Redskins decide to cut Swearinger because of his public criticism of the organization’s play-calling Sunday.

Swearinger has recorded 52 total tackles and four interceptions in 15 games in 2018.

The Cardinals will close out the regular season against the Seahawks on Sunday in Seattle. They’ll enter that matchup with a 3-12 record.
