JuJu Smith-Schuster injury update: Steelers WR (groin) misses practice, teammates think he'll play

Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster welcomes attention Antonio Brown receives from opponents

JuJu Smith-Schuster missed the Steelers’ practice session Friday with an injury, but a couple of his teammates are convinced he’ll play Sunday against the Saints.

The Steelers added the speedy wideout to the injury report after he left Thursday’s practice with a groin injury. But fellow Steelers receiver Antonio Brown doesn’t think Smith-Schuster will miss the Saints game.

“I think he’ll be there for us,” Brown said (via PennLive.com).

Wide receiver Ryan Switzer seemed even more convinced Smith-Schuster will play.

“Oh, JuJu’s playing,” Switzer said. “I mean I’m not a doctor, but I know JuJu.”

Smith-Schuster left Friday’s practice without comment to reporters. The second-year receiver leads the team in catches (95) and receiving yards (1,274).

If Smith-Schuster can’t go, Switzer and James Washington would likely see increased targets.

“He’s a tough guy,” Washington said of Smith-Schuster (via 93.7 The Fan). “I don’t doubt that he will be there. But we just never know. You’ve just got to know your position and know the roles of everyone, just in case you have to step up and do other things.”
