Melvin Gordon injury update: Chargers RB planning to return against Ravens

Melvin Gordon is planning to be on the field Saturday.

The star 25-year-old running back has missed the Chargers last three games with a knee injury. But, Gordon said Monday he expects to play in Los Angeles’ Week 16 game against the Ravens.

“I don’t want to get to the playoffs and be rusty,” Gordon said, via ESPN. “I know Baltimore has a real good defense. … It’s also a challenge to come knock some rust off against one of the best defenses in the league.

“It will be all right. I think the boys up front will get it done for me, but it’s going to be a playoff atmosphere out there because we are playing for something and they are playing for something.”

Gordon has rushed for 802 yards and nine scores in 10 games this season. He has also caught four touchdown passes.

The Chargers will enter their matchup against the Ravens with an 11-3 record. They’ve already clinched a playoff berth.
