The Rockets are still looking for ways to improve their roster.
Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is Houston’s “top target” as it looks to acquire a wing player, The New York Times’ Marc Stein reported Tuesday. The Rockets have also inquired about Cavaliers guard JR Smith, an earlier report from the Times says.
Caldwell-Pope struggled to open the season but has picked up his play recently. He’s averaging 9.2 points in 21.7 minutes per game while shooting 36 percent from 3-point range in 2018-19.
Caldwell-Pope signed a new one-year, $12 million deal with the Lakers this offseason after he played for the team in 2017-18.
The Rockets have had an up-and-down start to 2018-19 but they’ve won their last four games. They’ll enter their matchup against the Wizards on Wednesday with a 15-14 record.
