Rams running back Todd Gurley officially has been ruled out of Sunday’s regular-season finale with a troublesome left knee that has bothered him since Week 1, the team announced Friday.

Rams coach Sean McVay revealed Thursday that his star running back experienced problems with the knee after the team’s season-opening win over the Raiders.
Gurley, who aggravated the sore knee in a Dec. 16 loss to the Eagles and sat out last week’s win over the Cardinals, acknowledged the issue nearly derailed his season.
While McVay said the swelling in Gurley’s knee has gone down, the two-time Pro Bowl selection hasn’t practiced since the Week 15 Eagles game.
Gurley, 24, has rushed for 1,251 yards and 17 touchdowns while adding four receiving touchdowns this season. His 21 total TDs lead the NFL, despite his sitting out last week’s game.
C.J. Anderson is expected to start at running back against the 49ers. Anderson rushed for 167 yards on 20 carries in his Rams debut last week against the Cardinals.
The Rams (12-3) have already clinched the NFC West title but will look to secure a first-round bye when they host the 49ers (4-11) at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
