Spagnuolo and Chiefs coach Andy Reid worked together when they were part of the Eagles’ staff from 1999-2006.
“Steve is a bright defensive mind with a lot of coaching experience and success in our league,” Reid said in a statement. “I know him well from our time together in Philadelphia and I feel that his leadership skills and teaching abilities, combined with his scheme, will be a great fit for our team as we move forward.”
Spagnuolo didn’t coach last season, but spent 2017 as the Giants’ interim head coach. He was also their defensive coordinator from 2015-17. Before that, he was the head coach of the Rams from 2009-11, going 10-38 in that time.
