Jets set to interview former Packers coach Mike McCarthy, report says

Mike McCarthy takes out full-page ad to thank Green Bay

The Jets are scheduled to interview former Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy on Saturday for their head coach opening, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

New York is without a head coach since firing Todd Bowles after the Jets finished last in the AFC East for the third straight season.

McCarthy was 125-76-2 in Green Bay and won Super Bowl 45, but was let go during the season after the Packers fell to 4-7-1 with a loss at home to the lowly Cardinals on Dec. 2.

The Jets are casting a wide net to replace Bowles, who was 24-40 in four seasons as Jets coach. They already have interviewed former Dolphins coach Adam Gase and Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, ProFootballTalk reported.

And ESPN reported Saturday the Jets are in Texas this weekend to interview Cowboys defensive backs coach Kris Richard and also are interested in Baylor coach Matt Rhule.
