Maple Leafs acquire defenseman Jake Muzzin from Kings

The Maple Leafs have added a new player.

Toronto has acquired defenseman Jake Muzzin from the Kings in exchange for forward Carl Grundstrom, the rights to Sean Durzi and a 2019 first-round pick, the team announced Monday.

Muzzin has played for the Kings since 2010-11. He has tallied 21 points on four goals and 17 assists this season.

Muzzin won the Stanley Cup with Los Angeles in 2014.

Grundstrom and Durzin haven’t made their NHL debuts yet. Both were selected by Toronto as second-round picks in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

The Maple Leafs entered play Monday in second place of the Atlantic Division with a 30-17-2 record. The 20-26-4 Kings are last in the Pacific Division.
