NBA trade rumors: Knicks split on moving guard Frank Ntilikina amid interest from teams

The Knicks are unsure whether they are ready to trade away guard Frank Ntilikina, despite his limited role with the team.

The New York Daily News reports there’s some “debate within the Knicks on whether to deal Ntilikina,” though several teams have inquired about the 20-year-old guard, including the Suns and the Magic.

Per the Daily News:

“He was drafted by (Knicks president Steve) Mills and has supporters in the front office. But, according to a source with knowledge of the situation, (Knicks GM Scott) Perry, who took the job after Ntilikina was drafted, recently approached the Atlanta Hawks to gauge whether the team was interested in dealing for the guard (Hawks have Trae Young and weren’t interested).”

Ntilikina hasn’t received much playing time under coach David Fizdale and he has missed three straight games with an ankle injury before returning Sunday.

The 20-year-old was selected with the eighth pick in the 2017 draft. He has averaged 6 points and 2.6 assists in 21.2 minutes per game this season, though he has hit just 30.1 percent of his 3-point attempts.
