NBA wrap: Bucks overcome 42-point performance from James Harden to top Rockets

The Bucks managed to overcome a big performance from James Harden on Wednesday night.

Milwaukee handed the Rockets a 116-109 loss, snapping their 10-game home winning streak.

Houston has been on a hot streak but Harden’s 42-point performance wasn’t enough to lift the Rockets past Milwaukee. Harden also notched 11 rebounds, giving him a double-double on the night. Clint Capela chipped in 18 points and 13 rebounds, but the Bucks’ balanced offense was too overwhelming.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 27 points and 21 rebounds for the Bucks. Malcolm Brogdon contributed 24 points on an efficient 9-of-12 shooting.

The 29-11 Bucks sit atop the Eastern Conference while the Rockets dropped to 23-17, which ranks them sixth in the West.

Studs of the Night

Anthony Davis put up 38 points and 13 rebounds as the Pelicans defeated the Cavaliers 140-124.

John Collins scored 30 points and grabbed 18 boards for the Hawks in a 116-100 loss to the Nets.

Joel Embiid had 35 points and 14 rebounds in a 123-106 76ers’ loss to the Wizards.

Luka Doncic made four 3-pointers on his way to a 30-point performance in the Mavericks’ 104-94 victory against the Suns.

Duds of the Night

Mike Conley scored 14 points on 6-of-19 shooting as the Grizzlies beat the Spurs 96-86. He missed all six of his 3-point attempts.

Evan Fournier scored one point on 0-of-8 shooting as the Magic fell to the Jazz 106-93.

Ben Simmons used a deceptive ball fake to pass Embiid into a easy dunk under the basket.

What’s Next?

Nuggets (27-12) at Clippers (24-16) 9 p.m. ET — Denver holds the best record in the Western Conference heading into Thursday while the Clippers sit fourth in the West and are riding a three-game winning streak. This will be an intriguing matchup between two of the conference’s top teams.
