NHL All-Star Game 2019: Sidney Crosby out of skills competition with illness

Penguins star Sidney Crosby will skip Friday night’s NHL All-Star Skills Competition due to illness.

The NHL made the announcement Friday afternoon, adding that Crosby is expected to participate in Saturday night’s All-Star Game in San Jose.

Crosby will be part of the Metropolitan Division team for the 3-on-3 mini-game competition Saturday. That group is already down its initial captain, as Alex Ovechkin opted to skip All-Star weekend to get additional rest.
