Patriots' Josh McDaniels staying in New England

Josh McDaniels ‘enthusiastically interested’ in Browns job, report says

Josh McDaniels isn’t leaving New England.

The Patriots offensive coordinator told reporters on Tuesday “the book is closed” on his interviews and he’ll be in New England moving forward.

“Yeah, the book is closed,” McDaniels said. “It’s always a humbling experience to have an opportunity to interview with anybody for that position and I was thankful for the opportunity to meet with Green Bay. It always gives you greater insight into another organization and how they do things. It’s been very educational for me every time I’ve gone through it and I’ve appreciated every single one of them. That was great but no, I’m completely focused on the Chargers and our season and finishing it strong and I’ll be here moving forward.

McDaniels was rumored to be a coaching candidate with the Browns, but he said he has had no contact with the team.

He did interview for the Packers job, but the team is rumored to be hiring Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur as the team’s head coach.

McDaniels accepted the head coaching job with the Colts in the 2017 offseason but backed out of the position before he officially was named the team’s head man. He remained New England’s offensive coordinator for the 2018 season.
