76ers center Joel Embiid had high praise for Warriors forward Kevin Durant as the two teams faced each other Saturday.
Embiid said Durant is “probably the best player in the league to me,” according to ESPN. While the compliment is subjective, it took LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo out of the debate for Embiid.
Durant also expressed kind words toward his competitor as he said earlier Saturday that Embiid is the “toughest center to stop in the league,” per The Athletic.
Embiid’s comments come after he took somewhat of a jab at Durant during All-Star weekend when Embiid said Durant was a “great player” who could “take over this league here once I’m done.”
The Warriors went on to edge out the 76ers, 120-117, but Embiid didn’t take the court as he’s still sidelined with a knee injury that has held him out since the All-Star break. Durant finished Saturday with 34 points, adding five rebounds and five assists.
