Browns GM John Dorsey gushes about Odell Beckham Jr.’s passion, competitiveness

Browns GM John Dorsey open to anything with coaching search: 'It could be a woman'

John Dorsey is feeling proud of his team’s blockbuster acquisition.

While speaking on PFT Live from the NFL meetings in Arizona on Monday, the Browns general manager discussed the Odell Beckham Jr. trade and highlighted the important qualities he brings to the table for Cleveland.

“You can’t have enough passionate, competitive guys on your football team,” Dorsey said. “Here’s a guy that shows up, loves the game of football and his teammates love him. To me, that speaks volumes when your teammates rave about you because that shows the mark of who this person really is.”

Dorsey also addressed the rumors that Beckham wants an adjustment to his contract, leaving the door open for a potential deal down the road after the two have time to speak in person.

“I want to sit down face to face and, just, let’s talk about this,” Dorsey said. “Let’s talk about who you are. Let’s talk about who the Cleveland Browns are and let’s move this thing forward in a positive direction.”

The trade got “reluctant” approval from Giants owner John Mara, though he admitted Beckham’s sometimes controversial actions and comments were a factor in his departure.

The Giants received the No. 17 overall pick, Jabrill Peppers and the No. 95 overall pick for Beckham.
