Golden Knights sign Mark Stone to 8-year extension

The Golden Knights have secured Mark Stone.

Vegas and Stone agreed to an eight-year extension worth $9.5 million per year, the team announced Friday.

Stone was acquired from Ottawa at the trade deadline. Vegas picked Stone up with his contract expiring as he was due to be a free agent after the season.

The 26-year-old forward has 28 goals and 36 assists this season and two assists in five games since coming over from the Senators.

In his seven-year NHL career, Stone has never scored less than 54 points in a full season.

His 28 goals this year marks a career high.
