Kyler Murray isn’t impressed by Bryce Harper’s $330 million contract.
Murray was selected by the Athletics in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft. But the Oklahoma product announced in February he is pursuing his dream of being an NFL quarterback.
When asked if the record-breaking deal got his attention at the NFL combine Friday, Murray made light of the Phillies star’s earnings.
Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray asked if Bryce Harper’s deal got his attention: “Everyone makes a big deal of him making $300 million. There’s quarterbacks making more per year than him.”

Harper’s 13-year deal is the largest contract in baseball history. He will earn just over $25 million per year, excluding added performance incentives.
Murray is correct in his observation, as Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan and Matthew Stafford all make more annually. But Harper’s contract is worth more than three times as much as each of theirs.
Guaranteed money in contract
Bryce Harper ($330M)
Manny Machado ($300M)
Matt Ryan ($100M)
Aaron Rodgers ($98.2M)
Matthew Stafford ($92M)
Those are the 3-largest contracts in NFL history. Play baseball, kids.

Murray, last season’s Heisman Trophy winner, threw for 4,361 yards for the Sooners as a junior and could be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. He does not plan on throwing at the combine, though.
