The 49ers are taking their chance on defensive back Jason Verrett.
Verrett, who will be entering his fifth season in the NFL, signed a one-year deal, the team announced Thursday.

Financial terms were not disclosed but it has been reported Verrett will make $3.6 million next season.
The Pro Bowl player has battled his fair share of injuries and didn’t see any playing time during the 2018 season.
Verrett, who was selected in the first round (25th overall) of the 2014 draft by the then-San Diego Chargers, tore his Achilles tendon on the first day of training camp and was later placed on the team’s injured reserve list in August.
He tallied 80 total tackles, five interceptions (one returned of a touchdown) and 19 passes defended in his four years on the gridiron.
