NFL free agency rumors: Blake Bortles closing in on deal with Rams

Jaguars sticking with Blake Bortles as starting QB

Blake Bortles appears to have found a new team.

The quarterback, who was released by the Jaguars last week, is nearing a deal with the Rams, according to an ESPN report, which cites unidentified league sources.

Bortles is expected to serve as starting quarterback Jared Goff’s backup in 2019, according to the report.

Bortles, 26, threw for a career low 2,718 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He recorded the fourth worst completion percentage in the NFL and was benched in favor of Cody Kessler after Jacksonville’s 3-8 start.

Jacksonville signed Nick Foles to a massive four-year, $88 million deal earlier this month to replace Bortles under center in 2019.

The Rams reached Super Bowl 53, but fell short to the Patriots, 13-3.
