Justin Houston appears to be on his way out of Kansas City.
The Chiefs are releasing the veteran linebacker, Matt Verderame of FanSided reported.
The move comes as no surprise, as it was reported last week teams have been reaching out with “real interest” in trading for Houston.
A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Houston has two seasons remaining on the six-year deal worth $101 million he signed after compiling a career-high 22 sacks in 2014.
Houston, 30, has tallied 78 1/2 total sacks in his eight-year career spent entirely with the team that took him in the third round of the 2011 draft. He logged nine sacks and five forced fumbles in 12 games in 2018.
However, he hasn’t been fully healthy in recent seasons after dealing with numerous injuries, a factor teams will consider in free agency.
