Rams 'haven’t really gotten into' extension talks with Jared Goff, Sean McVay says

Rams QB Jared Goff went nuts when he heard about Halle Berry's tweet

Los Angeles doesn’t appear to be in a rush to sign Jared Goff to an extension.

Coach Sean McVay said Tuesday the Rams “haven’t really gotten into” talks about a new deal for the quarterback.

“Jared’s obviously extremely important to us,” McVay said. “But those are things that, we know we want to get him done at some point. Whether it happens this year, next year, those are things we haven’t really gotten into in depth about yet.”

Goff, 24, threw for 4,688 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2018-19. He led Los Angeles to the Super Bowl in February, but the Rams lost to the Patriots 13-3. He is not scheduled to become a free agent until 2021, so the Rams could focus on more pressing matters.

Los Angeles already appears to be retooling for 2019-20, as it has signed safety Eric Weddle and pass rusher Clay Matthews this offseason.

It will have seven picks in the 2019 draft.
