Sean Kuraly injury update: Bruins forward out 4 weeks with broken hand

Surgery to repair the fracture in Bruins forward Sean Kuraly’s right hand was successful, and he is expected to miss four weeks, the team announced Saturday.

Kuraly was injured during Boston’s 5-1 victory Thursday over the Devils.

Forward Karson Kuhlman, 23, was recalled from Providence on an emergency basis. Kuhlman made his NHL debut last month against the Kings and scored his first career NHL goal against San Jose on February 18. In 58 games at Providence, Kuhlman had 12 goals and 18 assists and is plus-23 rating.

Kuraly has 21 points (8 goals, 13 assists) in 71 games this season. He is the Bruins’ third best on faceoffs, at 53.8 percent. He was averaging 13:46 in ice time.

The Bruins are in second place in the Atlantic Division with 99 points and can clinch a spot in the playoffs with a win Saturday in Florida against the Panthers. Kuraly will miss the remainder of the regular season, and his availability for the playoffs will be determined by how far the Bruins advance. The 2019 NHL Playoffs begin April 9.
