NBA Draft 2019: Kyle Guy declares, open to returning to Virginia

Another Virginia player has declared for the NBA Draft.

Junior guard Kyle Guy announced his decision to leave the Cavaliers early, just a couple weeks after the team won its first NCAA Tournament.

“I set a goal with my brothers when we committed to UVA. Three years later we accomplished that goal of winning a National Championship,” Guy said in a statement. “I also set a goal for myself to play in the NBA.

“(Tuesday) I will be declaring for the 2019 draft and signing with an agent. I am diving into this with two feet to achieve my dream but I will leave the option of coming back to school open.”

Guy is the latest Cavalier to declare for the draft — teammates Ty Jerome and De’Andre Hunter announced their intentions to go pro Monday.

Guy was instrumental in Virginia’s run to the national title and racked up 24 points, three rebounds and one steal in the championship against Texas Tech.

He averaged 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists this past season, all career highs.
