NHL playoffs 2019: Predators' Pekka Rinne pulled after just 14 minutes

Pekka Rinne was not ready for what the Stars were bringing in Game 4 on Wednesday.

The reigning Vezina Trophy winner was pulled after allowing four goals on eight shot attempts in 14 minutes in Dallas.

He was replaced by Juuse Saros in the net.

The final goal came off the stick of Mats Zuccarello, who came over from the Rangers at the trade deadline to help out the Stars’ struggling offense.

This would qualify as help.

Rinne is one of the most consistent goalies in all of the NHL and was coming off a fantastic Game 3 performance in which he stopped 40 shots in a 3-2 win.

The 36-year-old netminder has been great in goal for the Predators in the postseason in his career posting a .916 save percentage while allowing a mere 2.43 goals per game.

But he is not immune to bad performances.

Rinne was pulled from the Predators’ Game 7 loss in the Western Conference semifinals last season after 11 minutes when Nashville fell to the Jets 5-1 at home.

He gave up five goals on seven shots in that game.
