Petr Mrazek injury update: Hurricanes goalie (lower body) leaves Game 2 vs. Islanders

Petr Mrazek did not finish Game 2.

The Hurricanes goaltender left his team’s playoff matchup against the Islanders with a lower body injury and did not return.

The 27-year-old was fantastic for the Hurricanes’ in the opening game of the second round series against New York. He stopped all 31 shots the Islanders attempted in his team’s 1-0 overtime win.

Curtis McElhinney replaced Mrazek in net. Todd Scarola served as the team’s backup.

Mrazek made nine saves and allowed a goal before exiting Game 2. His shutout streak was snapped at 135:04, which was the the second-longest run in franchise history.

Hurricanes defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk also left the game with an upper-body injury. Carolina went on to top New York, 2-1, to take a 2-0 series lead.
