NHL playoffs 2019: Hurricanes embrace 'jerks' label ahead of Game 3

Those bunch of jerks are still at it.

The Hurricanes once again threw shade at Don Cherry ahead of Wednesday’s Game 3 matchup against the Islanders by hilariously decorating their stands at PNC Arena.

Cherry slammed the Hurricanes in February for their post-game celebrations that became popular with the franchise this season, but the team embraced the commentator’s criticism and even turned his rant into a t-shirt.

“These guys to me are jerks,” Cherry said at the time. “And I’ll tell you one thing, they better not do this in the playoffs. This is a joke.”

Hurricanes captain Justin Williams announced in March that Carolina would end its “Storm Surge” celebrations, acknowledging the stint served its purpose of providing something different to entertain fans while generating attention for the team.

However, the team didn’t say anything about dumping their new nickname during the playoffs, which also drew attention from the state’s NBA squad.

The Hurricanes hold a 2-0 lead over the Islanders in the second-round series.
