Stanley Cup Final 2019: Bruins' David Krejci dealing with illness

David Krejci was absent at practice again.

The Bruins captain missed the team’s scrimmage Thursday and wasn’t at practice Saturday, though coach Bruce Cassidy expects Krejci back on the ice Sunday morning after dealing with an unspecified illness.

“I suspect we’ll see him (Sunday),” Cassidy said, via the Boston Globe. “That is the plan. If he’s not out there (Sunday), now there’s a little bit of a worry there. But right now, I believe he’ll be practicing (Sunday).”

Sure enough, Krejci was in attendance Sunday.

Cassidy confirmed Krejci had been kept away from the team as a precaution, leaving doubt that he’s in danger of missing Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Still, his status will be closely monitored.

Krejci, 33, has yet to miss a playoff game after sitting out just one regular-season game.

The championship series starts Monday, with puck drop slated for 8 p.m. ET at TD Garden in Boston.
