The Bengals were dealt the latest blow during the first week of camp.
Wide receiver A.J. Green was carted off the field Saturday with an apparent ankle injury.
The initial reports from NFL media say Green, a seven-time Pro Bowl player and staple in Cincinnati’s offense, suffered a sprained ankle.
Green will undergo an MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
Based on the initial diagnosis, #Bengals WR AJ Green is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle, I’m told. They are hopeful, but he’s going to get an MRI to be sure. If that’s the case, expect serious caution throughout the preseason from Green and the team.

Green is coming into his ninth year in the NFL all of which have been spent with the Bengals but has been prone to injury as of late. In December, he had surgery to repair torn ligaments in his toe. It caused him to miss the final five weeks of last season, but since then Green has said he is doing great.
The Bengals remain hopeful after this most recent setback.
“You don’t want to assume anything, but I think we’re going to be OK,” coach Zac Taylor said.
