The extension will keep Boyd with the Bengals until 2023. Boyd, 24, was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after the 2019 season.
He had 1,028 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season over 14 games and filled in for A.J. Green when he was dealing with a toe injury.
Green still is considered the primary receiver for the Bengals, but Green’s injuries have allowed him to complete just two full seasons in the past five years, which has primed Boyd to be a solid secondary wideout.
Last year marked Boyd’s best NFL season to date after he was taken in the second round of the 2016 draft.
