Tom Brady’s football skills are indisputable, but his parenting skills are being called into question.
The Patriots quarterback is under fire for what some claim was endangering the life of his 6-year-old daughter, Vivian, after posting a video of the two jumping off a cliff and into a waterfall pool while on a family vacation in Costa Rica.
“If Vivi is going to be an Olympic champion one day, it probably won’t be in synchronized diving,” Brady wrote Friday. “Daddy always gives her a 10 though!”
Little Vivian was hesitant about taking the plunge with her dad.
But a number of Instagram users were quick to express their unhappiness about it.
“Not your best play calling here,” one person wrote.
“Shame on your for not having a life jacket on your daughter, and double shame making her jump with you!!! You make dumb mistakes on football, why do this to your daughter????” another user added.
Others defended Brady.
“I only wish my dad was around to do fun stuff like this with me. Simmer down haters… TB12 is a great dad,” one person wrote.
“She could have been hurt on the plane…calm down people…we all could use a little push (or pull in this case) every now and then!!!” another user added.
Brady even got some support from a couple fellow athletes.
“You KNOW I have complete faith in you as a man, friend, player and father – but this just gave me anxiety. Geeezus,’’ former wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson wrote.
“That shoulder ok?” surfer Kelly Slater also wrote with a nervous emoji.
Brady and his reps have yet to comment further on the video, though the comments were still coming in hot as of Monday afternoon.
